Caillebotte in Context: Impressionism at the Art Institute
This 1 1/2 hour tour of the Art Institute’s acclaimed collection of Impressionist and Post-Impresionist art complement and provides insight context to the special exhibition Caillebotte: Painting His World, on view from June 29-October 5, 2025. Participants will look deeply at 19th century paintings by such major figures as Claude Monet, Édouard Manet, Mary Cassatt, Pierre Auguste Renoir, and Edgar Degas, among others. Artist Gustave Caillebotte, though lesser-known today, was an important member and patron of the movement. PLEASE NOTE: This tour does not include viewing the Caillebotte special exhibition. It focuses entirely on the museum’s permanent collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art.
